LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV)- A man who tried to rob a local store and fired shots at deputies while wearing a bullet-proof vest was shot, according to a report from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday a man, later identified as 23-year-old Tyler Cameron Kennedy, went into the CVS Pharmacy on Webb's Road carrying a shotgun. He jumped over the counter and demanded money, but did not get any, the official report states.
He then left the scene in a Grey Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling east on Webb's Road.
Deputies caught up with Kennedy as he turned onto Burton Lane and pulled into a grassy area near the Little Creek Access on Lake Norman.
Kennedy, who deputies said was wearing a bullet-proof vest, then got out of his vehicle on the side nearest the lake.
