Lake Norman leaders discuss I-77 widening

LAKE NORMAN (Justin Vick, Mooresville Weekly) - The Lake Norman Transportation Commission spent much of its Feb. 10 meeting discussing the bombshell state transportation engineer Barry Moose had dropped a week prior.

Moose told the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Coordinating Committee that efforts to widen Interstate 77 to Exit 28 and add high-occupancy toll lanes, known as HOT lanes, could be accelerated if transportation officials transfer money from stalled state projects.

Mooresville Mayor at center of controversy over emails to alleged mistress

MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - The Mooresville Board of Commissioners are considering whether or not to ask Mooresville Mayor Chris Montgomery to resign amidst allegations of emails to an alleged mistress.

Montgomery used his work email address to send the emails. WBTV obtained the emails through a public records request.

In one email dated December 4th 2010,  Montgomery writes to a woman who is not his wife and says, "I love you and promise we will be together without hurting anyone."

The woman writes back, "email is making me nervous".

Huntersville man arrested for home break-ins

Huntersville man arrested for home break-ins

IREDELL COUNTY - Detectives arrested a Huntersville man they say is responsible for several Iredell County break-ins early Thursday morning.

Iredell County Sheriff’s detectives began investigating on Wednesday after receiving reports of house break-ins.  Detectives discovered that much of the stolen property, including guns, jewelry and tools, was being sold at a local pawn shop.

They were then able to trace the robberies to the suspect, 49-year-old Lloyd Lawrence Outlaw.
