CORNELIUS, NC (WBTV) - Investigators are hoping a picture of a garment found at the scene of an intentionally-set fire in Cornelius Tuesday morning will help them find an arsonist.
The fire occurred around 2 a.m. in the Glenridge Community at a home at 10211 Meadow Crossing Lane. The back of the home was fully engulfed when officers arrived, but it was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Investigators found a pile of debris that was set on fire which destroyed the house. The fire also caused damage to homes on either side of the burned house.
"That's a lot, it's a lot of destruction in a small proximity like this," said LeeAnn Jeffries who has a daughter in the neighborhood.
Officials with the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office said the fire was intentionally set and classified it as an arson.
That upsets neighbors like Kenny Jennings.
